RiverBase Software Advisory

About RiverBase

A Melbourne advisory practice built around pipeline work that has to survive the night shift.

Mission

RiverBase helps Australian organisations keep operational data moving into warehouses and reporting stores with pipelines that are owned, documented, and repairable by the people who run them.

Origin

The practice started in Melbourne after years of being called in to fix Friday-night extract failures that no one could restart without the original author. We formed RiverBase to offer programming consulting that sits with the engineering team — writing jobs, reviewing contracts with source owners, and leaving runbooks — rather than delivering a black-box migration.

Expertise

Our consultants work daily with batch extracts, change-data feeds, staging validation, dimensional loads, and orchestration schedules. We are comfortable in warehouses already chosen by the client; we do not require a preferred vendor stack.

People & approach

Engagements are led by senior consultants who still write and review pipeline code. We prefer paired sessions with your engineers over remote-only document dumps. Decisions about grain, keys, and load windows are recorded in writing before implementation continues.

Values

  • Prefer clear ownership over clever abstractions
  • Document the restart path before adding features
  • Treat source system owners as partners, not obstacles
  • Stay within the engagement window we quoted

Australia context

We schedule around Australian business hours and common retail and banking load windows. Melbourne clients can book on-site workshops at our office or theirs; interstate teams work remotely with scheduled pairing blocks.
